BD Health Ventures is targeted at finding practices with mature doctors who are tired of managing the business side of the practice but still want attractive salaries and a portion of equity in their company. BD Health will aggregate these practices and with economies of scale be able to better control costs that small practices simply are unable to accomplish. The venture was founded by two exceptionally educated and experienced individuals. Patrick Byrne is a UC San Diego trained physician tenured at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, who also has an MBA from Wharton School of Business. Matthew Daugherty is also a Wharton MBA who is a former Chief of Staff at Landmark Health; he also has experience at the prestigious accounting firm of KPMG.
